The famous “Northern Ring” is home to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Tarangire. The quieter “South Loop” is home to Ruaha National Park and the Selous Game Reserve. Play density isn’t that high here, but there’s an undeniable appeal to being “off the beaten path” in pristine nature reserves.

Safari enthusiasts flock to western Tanzania to see Mahale’s chimpanzees and the wild charm of Katavi – the parks receive very few visitors. Just off the coast of Tanzania lies Zanzibar with a fascinating and legendary history. Other island options include Pemba in the north and Mafia in the south, vacation destinations primarily for avid divers.
