Day 1: Arrival Kilimanjaro Airport – Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by a driver and transferred to your accommodations in Arusha. Arusha is a bustling city located at the foot of Mount Meru, with a vibrant local market and plenty of restaurants and cafes to explore. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore the city on your own or relax at your accommodations.

In the evening, you will have a briefing with your safari guide to discuss the itinerary for the next few days and answer any questions you may have. You will have dinner and spend the night at your accommodations in Arusha.

Arusha is a bustling city with a lively local market, where you can find everything from fresh produce to traditional crafts. The city is also known for its delicious coffee, with many local cafes offering a variety of blends. Arusha is a great place to explore before or after your safari adventure, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and attractions to discover.

Day 2: Full Game Drive in Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast at your accommodations in Arusha, you will depart for Lake Manyara National Park, located approximately two hours away. Lake Manyara National Park is known for its diverse landscapes, including the alkaline lake, dense forests, and open savannahs, which provide habitats for a wide variety of wildlife.

Your safari guide will lead you on a full-day game drive, with the opportunity to spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, baboons, and many species of birds, among other animals. Lake Manyara is also known for its tree-climbing lions, which are a rare and unique sight to see. You will have a picnic lunch in the park, surrounded by the beautiful scenery. After a full day of game driving, you will return to your accommodations in Arusha for dinner and relaxation.

Short Brief About Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park is located in northern Tanzania, approximately two hours from Arusha, and covers an area of 330 square kilometers. The park is known for its diverse landscapes, which include a shallow alkaline lake, dense forests, and open savannahs. Lake Manyara is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, baboons, and many species of birds. The park is also known for its tree-climbing lions, which are a rare and unique sight to see. Lake Manyara is a great destination for a day trip or a short safari, offering a taste of Tanzania’s diverse wildlife and landscapes.

Day 3: Full Game Drive in Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater is a world-renowned conservation area located in northern Tanzania. It’s part of the larger Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which covers an area of over 8,000 square kilometers. The crater itself is a natural wonder and was formed by a collapsed volcano. It’s one of the largest unbroken calderas in the world, measuring approximately 20 kilometers in diameter and 600 meters in depth.

The Ngorongoro Crater is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, hyenas, buffalos, wildebeests, zebras, and many more. It’s also a critical breeding ground for the endangered black rhino. Given its size and the amount of wildlife it supports, a full-day game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater is highly recommended to fully appreciate the area. It’s also possible to have a packed lunch while on the game drive and return to Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Half Game Drive in Tarangire National Park Then Fly to Zanzibar

Tarangire National Park is a national park located in northern Tanzania. It covers an area of approximately 2,850 square kilometers and is named after the Tarangire River, which flows through the park. Tarangire is known for its large herds of elephants, baobab trees, and unique landscape. The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, wildebeests, and more.

After the game drive, you will fly to Zanzibar, an island off the coast of Tanzania known for its beautiful beaches, rich history, and unique culture. Once in Zanzibar, there are plenty of activities to do, including visiting Stone Town, exploring spice farms, relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, diving, or taking a sunset cruise.

Day 5: Own Activity in Zanzibar

There are plenty of activities you can do in Zanzibar, depending on your interests. You can visit Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its winding streets and historical charm. You may also relax on white-sand beaches, go on a spice tour, or explore Jozani Forest to see the rare red colobus monkeys.

Alternatively, take a sunset dhow cruise for a romantic experience, or simply enjoy the island’s tranquil atmosphere with some beach time and fresh seafood meals. Zanzibar offers a mix of adventure, relaxation, and culture to round out your trip.

Day 6: Departure Back Home

On the last day of your trip, you will depart from Zanzibar and travel back home. Ensure you pack your belongings and check out of your hotel on time. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time for shopping or sightseeing.

Your guide will transfer you to the airport, where you’ll catch your domestic or international flight. Take with you unforgettable memories of your Tanzanian adventure!
