» Itineraries » 2 Day Safari in Tarangire & Ngorongoro Crater
Short on time but still want to experience Tanzania’s incredible wildlife? This 2-day express safari is the perfect getaway. You’ll visit Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and majestic baobab trees, and the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the Big Five roam in a spectacular volcanic landscape. Starting and ending in Arusha, this safari is ideal for travelers with passion for wildlife and nature even in short time.
After your arrival in Arusha (or early morning pickup from your hotel or airport), you’ll meet your guide and depart for Tarangire National Park — a gem of the northern circuit known for its iconic baobab trees, ancient elephant migration routes, and a variety of birdlife.
Once inside the park, begin your game drive, searching for lions, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, and elephants — Tarangire often boasts some of the largest elephant herds in Tanzania.
Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park with scenic views, and continue wildlife viewing into the afternoon. Later, drive to your lodge near the Ngorongoro area for overnight.
After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most dramatic wildlife destinations in the world. This ancient volcanic caldera is home to over 25,000 animals, including endangered black rhinos, large prides of lions, hippos, buffalos, flamingos, and more.
Enjoy a half-day game drive and picnic lunch by the hippo pool, then begin your ascent and drive back to Arusha or directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight home.
