» Itineraries » 5-Day Serengeti Safari & Lake Eyasi Cultural Tour
This well-rounded 5-day safari blends the unmatched wildlife experience of the Serengeti with the rare opportunity to engage with indigenous cultures at Lake Eyasi. You’ll arrive in Arusha and head straight into adventure, spending two days immersed in the legendary plains of Serengeti National Park before visiting the Hadzabe and Datoga people — some of the last true hunter-gatherer and pastoralist communities in East Africa. Perfect for travelers seeking both big game viewing and cultural depth, this itinerary offers a diverse snapshot of Tanzania’s natural and human heritage.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be welcomed by your safari representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha, the safari capital of northern Tanzania. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at the lodge, enjoy the gardens, or take a short optional city tour.
After breakfast, depart from Arusha and begin the journey to Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, take in the changing landscapes — from highland farms to endless plains.
You’ll arrive at Seronera (central Serengeti) by midday and begin your afternoon game drive, searching for wildlife such as lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and (seasonally) the Great Migration.
Spend a full day exploring Serengeti’s incredible wildlife ecosystems. Begin with a sunrise game drive, the best time to see predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs in action. Continue through various parts of the park based on seasonal wildlife movement — your guide will tailor the route to maximize sightings.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wilderness and continue game driving into the afternoon before returning to camp.
Depart early from Serengeti and head south to Lake Eyasi, a beautiful seasonal lake near the Rift Valley escarpment. Here, you’ll meet the Hadzabe people, one of the last true hunter-gatherer communities in Africa. Join them for a bush walk and hunting demonstration.
You’ll also visit the Datoga people, known for their traditional blacksmithing and pastoralist lifestyle. After the cultural experience, continue driving to Arusha for your final overnight.
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the hotel before your private transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight. If time permits, you may visit a local craft market or enjoy some last-minute shopping.
