Serengeti National Park
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Serengeti is famed for the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and Thomson’s gazelles journey from Serengeti to Kenya’s Maasai Mara. You’ll witness this awe-inspiring event as animals cross rivers teeming with Nile crocodiles, offering unforgettable moments of nature’s raw beauty. This season also draws predators to the north, creating unparalleled wildlife encounters.
Today, at 6:30 AM, you’ll embark on a full-day game drive in Northern Serengeti, a prime location to witness the iconic Great Migration. You’ll explore the stunning landscapes along the Mara River, where you’ll have the chance to see wildebeests crossing the river and battling the dangers of Nile crocodiles. The park is also home to abundant wildlife, allowing you to observe a diverse range of animals throughout the day.
You’ll wake up to the peaceful sounds of nature and enjoy breakfast at the camp. Today, you’ll head to Central Serengeti for a full-day game drive. This region is famous for its abundant wildlife, especially the Big Five: lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, and rhinos.
Serengeti is home to one of the largest lion populations in Africa, and you’re likely to spot these magnificent predators as well as the elusive leopards and the impressive herds of elephants. The area around Seronera is particularly rich in wildlife, providing excellent opportunities for incredible wildlife sightings.
You’ll start your day early with breakfast before setting off for a transfer to the Ngorongoro Crater. The drive will take approximately 2 hours, with stops along the way to spot wildlife.
Ngorongoro Crater is one of the world’s most iconic natural wonders. This enormous, unbroken caldera spans 20 kilometers across and 600 meters deep, creating a unique and rich ecosystem. The crater floor is home to a variety of wildlife, including the rare black rhino, flamingos, and hippos, especially around Lake Magadi, a shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner of the crater.
In the evening, you’ll drive back to the lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay. Take some time to unwind and enjoy the lodge’s amenities, including the swimming pool, before preparing for the next day’s adventures.
After an early breakfast at 7:00 AM, you’ll embark on a drive to Tarangire National Park for a thrilling morning game drive. Tarangire is famous for its large herds of elephants and diverse landscapes, from seasonal swamps to the iconic savannah. The Tarangire River runs through the park, offering unique wildlife sightings, including lions stalking their prey and leopards lounging in the trees above.
You’ll enjoy a day filled with amazing wildlife encounters before heading back to Arusha in the afternoon for your flight back to Zanzibar. The flight departs at 4:30 PM, allowing you to return to the island in the evening.
